About Me
Hi, my name is Aglaia Ho and I am a native New Yorker with a passion for creativity and the arts.
My love for writing stems from my wild childhood imagination which inspired fantastical stories I told to my parents. As a child, I would create tales about fairies who lived under the shrubs and bushes or about a poor family who lived in a tree. These musings would eventually translate into written words on paper. Even at a young age, I wrote avidly and honed my skill. My first official published work, a poem "Forever!", appeared in The State of the Wild when I was only eleven years old. Since then, I have continued to share my voice in print and online and have branched out into other genres of writing. I have served as a columnist for NY Family Magazine and as a contributor of my undergraduate's newspaper, The Williams Record. In 2017, I completed an award-winning history thesis on the social history of my hometown. Currently, I write for fun on my own blog.
I also have a strong interest in music and theatre. I have been playing piano since I was five years old, even though my hands were too tiny to reach an octave (unfortunately, that is still a struggle). Nevertheless, I fell in love with music all the same and was captivated by its emotional and creative possibilities. I have performed at numerous venues, big and small, in New York City including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kaufman Center, Steinway Hall, and Flushing Town Hall. I have also been singing ever since I could talk and was raised on a strong diet of Disney princess movies and Golden Age musicals. I sang a cappella in college with The Aristocows and have since dabbled in musical theatre.
